Stomach and Digestion. The stomach kick-starts the process of digestion by churning and mixing food with stomach acid and digestive enzymes, breaking it down into smaller bits that can be handled by the small intestine. The stomach, the glands that produce digestive enzymes and hydrochloric acid, and the nervous stimulus for digestion are all found within this Integrator. The muscular tissues of the small intestine and the large intestine are here too. The entire abdominal cavity as an energy centre is also within this compartment. This Integrator is about powering digestion and sending nourishment radiating out from the centre throughout the entire body. When blocked we may see digestive symptoms, particularly upper digestive symptoms such as indigestion, heartburn and bloating. However, its influence extends throughout the body, and may cause congestion, phlegm or fatigue in the body generally.

Stomach Meridian. The stomach meridian starts just under the eye and runs down the side of the face to the lips. From here one branch goes up the ear and into the head. From the jaw it descends along the throat, down through the nipple line and into the abdomen. The pathway continues down the outside of the leg, the knee, the shinbone and the top of the foot to end in the second toe. A deeper branch, connecting the organs in the abdomen, descends into the middle toe and from the top of the foot a pathway runs across to join the spleen meridian.

Nourishment. There are many deep connections within the stomach meridian. This Integrator energises the bone marrow in the long bones of the legs, so influencing the production of the red and white blood cells that build the blood and the immune system, as well producing the fat and cartilage that nourish bone and muscle. It nourishes the brain and higher thinking processes such as learning, memory and problem solving through its connection with the prefrontal cortex. The main point is that this Integrator serves the entire body, radiating out energy and nourishment to all the cells. The male sex glands are also nourished by this Integrator.

Heavy Metals. This Integrator is quite susceptible to environmental toxins, including heavy metals like aluminium, cadmium and lead. Heavy metals can be stored in the bones and the other structures in this Integrator, including the brain, stomach, testes and the breasts. The Infoceutical can help to draw these toxins from their stores but it is advisable to use it alongside other techniques that can support detoxification and clearance of metals.

Emotions. The emotions associated with this Integrator revolve around the themes of digestion and nourishment. The Stomach Integrator helps to process thoughts and feelings, as well as food. Remember the frontal cortex is affected by this compartment, so the ability to hold a thought or process thoughts may be affected. There may be an issue that is hard to digest, something that leaves a bad taste in the mouth or weighs heavily on the mind. There may be mental hyperactivity, anxiety or confusion too. There’s an emotional link with eating of course. We may eat to stuff down feelings that we cannot handle, or to help us to feel more fulfilled or content. Also bear in mind the central position of the stomach. This Integrator represents having a strong and stable centre. With a strong stomach we have the appetite for life.
