Glycine gets its name from its slightly sweet taste. Most people experience TMG as sweet, from the glycine at the core of its structure.

TMG gives a methyl group to homocysteine, which the body recycles into methionine and then SAMe. Its other two methyl groups can feed the folate cycle.
