"Do all the windows need to be closed for the unit to be effective?"

No.

When the windows are open, and there is a breeze, like the trade winds here in Hawaii, place the unit in a relatively elevated location near the direction where the breeze enters the building, and set it on higher settings for stronger effects.

The maximum settings for a large space with open windows and a breeze will be:

• A PURE+ turned on

• Area set to 3000+ Square Fee

• Fan on the maximum setting

For a space with many people in it, such as a church, having the windows open is desirable for maximizing fresh air.

When there are many people in a space, the optimum coverage may be reduced to about 500 square feet, so in a large well attended space like a church, consider using one unit per approximately 500 square feet during packed services for maximum protection.

The one time that closing the windows and doors is recommended is when using the Ozone setting to deep clean a space overnight, or sometime when no one will be in the room.

The timer can be set for 2 hours, 4 hours, or 8 hours of Ozone, after which it will automatically stop without having to enter the space to turn it off.
