Longevity

Longevity is formulated to support your lifelong maintenance of optimum mitochondrial function.

Visualize supplying new spark plugs for your cells!

Longevity benefits include:

• Supports optimum Nicotine Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) levels in the mitochondria

• Promotes the delivery of high-energy electrons into the electron transport chain of oxidative cellular respiration that supplies cellular energy storage in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)

Supports mitochondrial function

Mitochondrial dysfunction is the first observed precursor of glaucoma, many other neurodegenerative conditions, and chronic health problems generally.

Restoring mitochondrial metabolism and stimulating mitochondrial biogenesis should be our first line of primary prevention against the effects of unhealthy aging and degeneration.

NAD and the related compound Nicotine Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate (NADP) are the two most abundant coenzymes in healthy eukaryotic cells such as ours.

NAD is produced from Vitamin B3 in the mitochondria, and its depletion is a key marker of degeneration with aging-related diseases.

The Longevity formula is designed to optimize the high-energy electron source for the electron transport chain...

Lifestyle Synergists for Extending Lifespan:

In addition to taking Longevity 1 to 3 times a day with meals, you can promote your longevity potential in several other ways:

Fasting: Avoid eating 3-4 hours before sleep, since hunger at bedtime increases NAD+.

Intermittent fasting 12-16 hours/day increases NAD levels via the enzyme Nicotinamide Phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT).

Calorie reduction or even water fasting for 4-5 days seasonally promotes autophagy and apoptosis.

Oleic acid activates SIRT 1 gene.

Real Olive or Avocado oil are beneficial, but we only recommend eating avocado and olives, as most commercial oils are adulterated or fake.

Aerobic exercise and resistance training are beneficial.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) can be done 3x/week to achieve a 16% increase in the NAMPT enzyme that makes NAD.

Hydrotherapy is beneficial.

You can simply have a cold shower or use alternating heat and cold.

Sauna or infrared therapies, especially NIR soft laser in the range of 810 to 820 nm are synergistic, affecting deep tissues.

For more details, see our Brain Helmet and our Harmony Laser.

Red Light Therapy in the range of 630 - 660 nm is synergistic, affecting superficial tissues, including all eye tissues.

We found a few nutritional synergists that failed to qualify for inclusion in our formula:

Amines:

Tryptophan is a precursor for NAD production by forming niacin via the kynurenine pathway, but it is not efficient enough to include because 60 mg of Tryptophan only makes 1 mg of niacin.

Leucine also increases NAD production but also raises mTOR levels, the elevation of which is associated with reduced longevity, so adding Leucine would be counterproductive despite supporting increased NAD levels.

Also see the notes on why we don't include Niacinamide, below under Vitamins...

In fact, we don't even stock Niacinamide among the more than 500 ingredients we use in our hundreds of Functional Formulations™.

Longevity vegicaps are recommended 1 to 3 times a day with food or with meals.

Each vegicap of Longevity supplies:

Vitamins:

Vitamin B1: Thiamine (as Benfotiamine) 1.5 mg 100%

Thiamine recycles NAD.

Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble S-Acetyl precursor of Thiamine that crosses the Blood-Brain and Blood-Eye Barriers.

It is also useful for Alzheimer's, alcohol-related health issues, and nerve challenges in Diabetes.

Thiamine & Neuroprotection Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5967606/

There's a series of brain scans showing long-term benefits of Benfotiamine in Alzheimer's patients below this collapsing section.

Vitamin B2: Riboflavin 5-Phosphate (R5P) 1.6 mg 100%

Riboflavin also recycles NAD.

R5P is the phosphorylated active coenzyme form of the vitamin.

Riboflavin Reference:

Vitamin B3:

Vitamin B3 (as Niacin) 8 mg 40%

We use low-dose niacin in our Bioavailability Factors (see below) to support increased blood flow and therefore tissue delivery of the other ingredients in each formula.

Larger doses, such as in our Blood Cleanse formulation, tend to cause a circulatory flush reaction for the first few days or weeks, so this should be considered with caution as an increased release of toxins from the perfused tissues can further burden organs of elimination such as the liver and kidneys.

Prolonged large doses of niacin, which we do not recommend, can increase insulin resistance.

Chromium, such as in Glucose Tolerance, can be supplied to help balance this effect.

Avoid time-release niacin in large doses as it can damage the liver.

Niacin's benefits include lowering LDL cholesterol, raising HDL cholesterol, lowering triglycerides & improving HDL/triglycerides balance.

Niacin decreases the incidence of cardiovascular, neurological, and aging-related issues.

Niacin Reference:

Vitamin B3 (as Niacinamide)

We do not include the Niacinamide form of Vitamin B3.

While it may form NR when taken with D-Ribose, large doses decrease SIRT1 activity over time in-vitro, and increase insulin resistance.

Vitamin B3 (as Nicotinamide Riboside) (NR) 50 mg *

We keep the dosage of NR low, since higher doses above about 125 mg may reduce performance.

Vitamin B3 (as Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) (NMN) 75 mg *

We also moderate the dosage of NMN, since some people may be concerned about abnormal DNA methylation.

NMN enhances performance and longevity.

It is being studied by David Sinclair at Harvard University to slow and reverse aging.

NMN and NR are two niacin-related precursors of NAD+ that are at the forefront of longevity research.

We maximize the beneficial effects and minimize any risks by combining safe doses of both.

Small doses of NADH can be used, but they are costly and very unstable, and unsuitable for encapsulation because they are highly hygroscopic.

Taken together in moderate doses, NMN and NR provide an efficient and well-tolerated means to increase NADH levels in the mitochondria.

Reference on NMN & NR:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29249689/

Vitamin B6: Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate (P5P) 2 mg 100%

Vitamin B6 recycles NAD.

P5P is the phosphorylated active coenzyme form of Pyridoxine.

Pyridoxine is associated with cardiovascular risk and lipids

Vitamins & Longevity Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2682456/

Vitamin B15: Trimethylglycine (TMG) 10 mg *

TMG (Betaine) is the best methyl donor that most efficiently repletes methyl groups depleted by all NAD boosters.

It is derived from beets, but to achieve a therapeutic dose, it must be extracted to avoid potential Iron toxicity.

People with high normal levels of Iron show reduced longevity compared to those with low normal levels.

Because TMG is hygroscopic, we can only include a small but significant dose in capsule formations as a catalyst.

For full therapeutic doses of TMG see our pleasant-tasting pure TMG powder.

Betaine Reference:

Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 400 IU 10 mg 100%

Cholecalciferol raises NAD levels.

Vitamin D Reference:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26899162/

Quinones:

CoQ10 (Ultra absorption) 5 mg (from 25mg) *

CoQ10 is synergistic with NAD+ in multiple clinical studies.

The combination helps restore mitochondrial function in Chronic Fatigue (CFS).

CoQ10 & NAD Reference:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26212172/

Lapachol 3% (Tabebuia avellanidae) 25 mg *

Lipoic Acid Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5961061/

Polyphenols:

Trans-Resveratrol (Polygonum cuspidatum) 25 mg *

Resveratrol, found in grapes, raises NAD levels in mitochondria, activates the SIRT 1 gene, and activates NAD.

Harvard longevity researcher David Sinclair compares NAD+ to fuel, and activators to a gas pedal.

Resveratrol Reference:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30741437/

Trans-Pterostilbene (Vaccinium cyanococcus) 25 mg *

Pterostilbene is methylated resveratrol.

This form found in blueberries is more potent and bioavailable than Resveratrol, and it activates the longevity-related SIRT 1 gene.

Pterostilbene & NR Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5701244/

Apigenin (Matricaria chamomilla) 25 mg *

Chamomile increases NAD.

Apigenin inhibits the CD-38 enzyme that breaks down NAD.

Apigenin Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3609577/

Rutin (Sophorae japonica) 25 mg *

Rutin inhibits the PARP1 enzyme related to gene repair that decreases NAD levels.

Rutin & NAD Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6342515/

Quercetin DIhydrate (Sophora japonica) 25 mg *

Quercetin is the most common bioflavonoid in the diet and is the most researched of the polyphenols.

Quercetin activates NAD and inhibits CD38 and PARP1 enzymes that reduce NAD levels.

We use the water-soluble form: Quercetin Dihydrate because it is many times more bioavailable than the common form of Quercetin.

Quercetin & Apigenin Reference:

https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3609577/
