Cinnamon Blue combines aromatic and flavorful Cinnamon Polyphenols with Methylene Blue (MeBlu).
Methylene Blue Background:
Methylene Blue is safe enough to be available without prescription and is on the World Health Organization's list of essential medicines.
Modern hospitals use it to save lives in cases of severe trauma.
Methylene Blue was discovered in 1876 and was first used as a dye for cloth.
In medical science, it was noticed that staining pathogens with a dye could kill them.
Methylene Blue was the first synthetic pharmaceutical and was used in 100 mg/day doses to treat Malaria in the 1890s based on the work of Nobel Prize-winning physician Paul Ehrlich.
He observed that Methylene Blue concentrates in diseased tissues in the body, such as tumors.
He coined the term "magic bullet" to describe this targetted effect.
It was later replaced as the top Malaria treatment when drug companies were able to patent Quinine, making it more profitable, though Methylene Blue is still used to treat Malaria today.
Each drop of Cinnamon Blue supplies:
Methylene Blue 400 mcg *
Polyphenols 30% (Cinnamomum cassia) (bark) 400 mcg *
Sodium Benzoate has been used in combination with Methylene Blue to support the maintenance of optimum weight.
We prefer to use Cinnamon as a botanical source of the Benzoate-related compound Cinnamic Acid for similar benefits as well as its enhanced gustatory and olfactory stimulation.
Cinnamon is also highly valued for supporting blood sugar regulation.

Nootropic Effects:
Dr. Ehrlich noted that Methylene Blue concentrates in the brain as well.
Its use has been extended to treat Schizophrenia, Methemoglobinemia, UTI, Cyanide poisoning, Carbon Monoxide poisoning, and Cancer (combined with 660 nm light for photodynamic therapy)...
Now it is no longer regulated as a drug, and many people are using it for brain-boosting and anti-aging benefits.
It is used as a nootropic to improve memory, mood, and longevity.
Methylene Blue crosses the blood-brain barrier providing neuroprotection and nootropic effects while increasing cerebral blood flow.
Methylene Blue benefits:
Increases Mitochondrial Complex IV by 30%.
Increases neurotransmitter levels of catecholamines, acetylcholine (by inhibiting Acetylcholinesterase), serotonin, and norepinephrine (by inhibiting Monoamine-oxidase at higher doses, especially MAO-A).
Converts the superoxide radical to water, preventing a cascade of other free radicals from ever forming...
Helps with age-related cognitive decline and is being researched in neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimer's (e.g. 81% reduction in cognitive decline with 60 mg three times a day for 50 weeks), Huntington's, and Parkinson's diseases.
Reduces the formation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles seen in dementia and shows beneficial effects even when initiated after Alzheimer's is diagnosed.
Is neuroprotective against reperfusion injury after ischemia or a stroke.
Increases heme synthesis which begins in the mitochondria and affects DNA synthesis as well as transport of Oxygen and electrons.
Increases cellular Oxygen utilization by 37 to 70% and donates electrons to the electron transport chain, improving mitochondrial metabolism, and increasing the lifespan of brain cells.
Methylene Blue acts as an additional carrier of electrons between NADH and Cytochrome C, essentially hot-wiring this connection in the electron transport chain.
That is how it helps recovery from ischemia as well because that link gets damaged.
Even topical application can be effective for stroke, with about 20% absorption in 1 hour, and the rest absorbed over about 1-2 days if left on the skin.

In an animal model, the pesticide Rotenone was used to break that link in the electron transport chain, and Methylene Blue protected the mitochondria from damage by the neurotoxin.
In Psychiatry, 15 mg a day has shown potent antidepressant effects in severe depression, while 195 mg (or 300 mg per day added to Lithium treatment in another study) was found useful for reducing both depression and anxiety long-term in manic-depression.
It also reverses premature senescence caused by either Cadmium or Hydrogen Peroxide by preventing telomere shortening.
In an in vitro study of 90-year-old skin cells, the addition of a small dose of Methylene Blue (equivalent to 1-2 mg/day) reverted the cellular metabolism to that of a 20-year-old.

In an animal study, similarly low doses reversed all signs of aging.
MeBlu is also a potent broad-spectrum antimicrobial.
Methylene Blue is:
Antifungal
Antibacterial
Antiviral
It is often used in aquariums for these effects while being safe for the fish.
These effects come from the production of a low level of Reactive Oxygen Species that the microbes cannot tolerate but are safe for our cells (and the cells of the fish).
Similar levels of ROS are produced by our hormones DHEA and progesterone.
Some common observations when taking Methylene Blue include:
Increased energy and youthful vitality
Improved sleep
Better focus of attention
Enhanced comprehension
Better short and long-term memory
Social confidence
Stress reduction
Relaxation
Avoid combining Methylene Blue with pharmaceutical antidepressants and antianxiety drugs that affect dopamine or serotonin, including SSRIs and MAOIs like citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline, zimelidine, bupropion, buspirone, clomipramine, mirtazapine, and venlafaxine.
Dosage effects show hormesis, with effects of low doses being opposite those at high doses. Side effects are rare with adult dosages under about 100 mg/day.
Reported side effects with higher doses include stomach pain, chest pain, dizziness, headache, sweating, confusion, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, accelerated heartbeat, tremor, skin turning blue, urine turning blue or green, reduction of red blood cells, or jaundice (only reported in infants).
Methylene Blue has been used as a broad-spectrum antiviral for inactivating viruses in the blood prior to use in transfusion since 1991. A new study confirms that Oral Methylene Blue (MeBlu) is antiviral for both COVID and the flu.
MeBlu inhibits SARS‐CoV‐2–ACE2 PPI (protein-protein interaction) and the entry of SARS‐CoV‐2‐spike‐bearing pseudoviruses into ACE2 receptor-expressing cells. It is also effective when introduced at a later stage, after entry into the cell.
It is effective at once a day oral doses and is also highly beneficial with aerosol delivery.
Nebulized patients show reduced inflammation markers and oxygen requirements.
Ongoing clinical trials in Switzerland, Mexico, and Iran are achieving reduced hospital stays and reduced mortality in coronavirus patients.
They are even using MeBlu intravenously as an effective rescue treatment for hypoxic COVID‐19 patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
